“Best Music Video”

★★★★

“A wonderful ode to music videos of the 90s.”

This music video from Greek band ΗΞΧ is a wonderful ode to music videos of the 90s such as ‘Foo Fighters - Learn to Fly’ and more. It does exactly what a music video should do, elevate the track and create a memorable story which get’s you interested in the band. We know we are!

Straight away we could tell the production quality of this music video was high. Even though the budget was relatively small, it certainly doesn’t look it. The locations, lighting, cinematography and performances all work and work well. Props should be given to DOP Dimitris Lampridis for capturing a music video which deserves to be on mainstream music channels.

Subtle humour is not something you see too often in modern music videos which is a real shame, as this really adds something unique to make it more enjoyable. Writer and director Chris Tsounis should be proud of what he’s done here as it’s a music video which will have plenty of longevity without dating in years to come. It’s relaxed and dry tone fits the image of the band perfectly and was tailored for them.

Tasick Mpougkis simply referred to as ‘creepy guy’ is a force of nature in his performance. We almost wish we could see the rushes with the sound on to make for an even bigger laugh. Mpougkis manages to create a memorable character reminding us of films like Napoleon Dynamite. We hope he’s used in future music videos as a running gag for audiences.

Overall, this is a superb music video which doesn’t attempt to be over the top just for the sake of it. It’s low key and fits the style of the music effortlessly whilst being the perfect introduction to the band for new audiences.
