The Fall is a dance music video that tells the story of meeting two lonely people. When their paths cross, we witness their first fascination that turns into intimate closeness.

Miroslaw Stanlej Stanek directs an utterly beautiful and emotionally rich music video that captures a heart wrenching moment between two strangers. It’s films like this that help to inspire other filmmakers and we are honoured to have it as one of our award winners.

The direction for the film is powerful, allowing for plenty of thought provoking scenes between the characters that make for a memorable watch. The concept is interesting and the way it’s executed even more impressive. Stanek clearly has a unique way of telling his stories which are visually stunning yet full of meaning. We can imagine this was heavily storyboarded and carefully planned to achieve Stanek’ vision. It’s hauntingly beautiful.

The music itself is full of suspense and reflection that emote spectacular moments in the film. The music and visuals are perfectly balanced throughout and make for an outstanding music video that audiences of any language will gravitate towards, making up their own interpretation of the meaning behind it.

Helena Ganjalyan and Radoslaw Lis performances are wonderful and have great chemistry with each other even without any dialogue. The range of emotions they have to deliver through the film is impressive and they do so with total believability. The moments of them entwined and being separated are both dramatic and inspiring, creating a touching art piece that works on many levels. The choreography must have been a challenge but you wouldn’t think it looking at their performances.

The cinematography on this is some of the best we’ve seen for a music video. The lighting in particular and use of shadow creates a moody and textured look that deserves recognition. Even down to the simple rain soaked floor helps add detail and mood to an already superb film. The colour grade as well is outstanding, creating a stylish look that feels ‘film like’ and natural.

Stanek leaves us with a music video that will connect with viewers and leave them thinking about the beauty chance meetings…
