“The Fallen has a sense of depth and suspense throughout which makes for a lasting thriller that audiences will latch onto.”
A psychologically tormented Assassin looks for a way out.
This is not the first film we’ve had the pleasure of watching from director Julian Morales who delivers a nail biting thriller with a climactic ending. The Fallen has a sense of depth and suspense throughout which makes for a lasting thriller that audiences will latch onto. Morales weaves the film with finesse and total clarity, knowing exactly the type of film he had in mind and executes it to perfection.
Morales takes on the writing with actress Carolina Speroterra which is surprising. It’s not often you get a dual team of writers to take on directing and acting, but for this it works. Perhaps in many ways it’s why this film works on so many levels, as the direction for the film is so clear. The film is well written, allowing for great dialogue between the two characters and leaving plenty of room for stunning visuals and moments of silence.
Cinematography is also handled by Morlaes which again adds fuel to our theory about why the film works so well. The vision is as clear as the direction. Colour is a big part of the film and the use of lighting creates a moody and grungy look that’s distinct and memorable, ideal for the big screen.
Andrea Moreno creates a score that’s both brooding and abstract, giving the film a perfect accent to the powerful visuals. Its hauntingly chilling which elevates the performances and moments of silence. Moreno doesn’t try to take focus away from what’s on-screen, but instead adds to it.
Carolina Speroterra as ‘The Woman’ delivers an outstanding performance full of depth and emotion which stays just beneath the surface. We’re never too sure exactly what she’s thinking which only makes you pay attention more when she’s on-screen. Speroterra has a range of scenes with a mix of emotions which she handles with ease, never going too far with the delivery. The balance was perfect.
The same can be said of Andre Nagle playing ‘Rafael/Gabriel’ who plays off Speroterra’ chilling performance. He handles the dramatic scenes with a natural emotion that is wonderful to see.
The whole team on this film should be very proud of what they have accomplished, from the performances, filming, editing, wardrobe, locations and sound, everything is working at full gear. Making this short thriller a memorable one.
If you’re looking for a short thriller full of suspense and an intriguing story, then this should be on your watch list. It’s a must watch…
