“An excellent piece that proves animated films can delve into serious and dramatic subjects.”
This unique and original stop motion animated film by Trevor Hardy is an excellent piece that proves animated films can delve into serious and dramatic subjects. Hardy takes his time with setting the scene and creating a gritty tone which will surprise audiences with its daring story.
Neil James delivers an excellent performance as ‘Ray’ who wants nothing more than to stay out of the family disturbance coming from next door. But as the film progresses, he’s given no choice than to take measures into his own hands.
The use of stop motion animation in the film works exceedingly well to create a unique take on the subject matter which audiences may have seen before. However the film goes in another direction towards the end which will leave the audience asking what they might have done. Performances all around feel raw and genuine, their subtle and slightly off balanced deliveries creates something that does’t sound too rehearsed.
Hardy demonstrates a complete understanding of visual storytelling and animation which will impress audiences of all kinds.
